SUSTAINABLE FOREST INITIATIVE
Twin Forest Products practices forestry and timber harvesting in a manner that promotes sustainable forest management. This includes complying with Wisconsin Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI©).
The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®) program is based on the premise that responsible environmental policy and sound business practices can benefit all stakeholders in our forests. On October 14, 1994, members of the American Forest & Paper Association agreed to adhere to a set of forestry principles that seeks to balance society's demand for forest products with sound land stewardship.
The program is a comprehensive system of principles, objectives, and performance measures developed by foresters, conservationists, and scientists that combines the perpetual growing and harvesting of trees with reforestation, conservation of soil, air and water resources, wildlife and fish habitat, and forest aesthetics.
The goal is to continue to harvest useful forest products today at an affordable price and extend that benefit for generations to come. Because of improved forest management, there is more wood growing on SFI practitioners lands, across the country today, than at any time in the past century.
